One of the winners of the A-6 energy auction in 2019, the Parnaíba VI Project
closes the cycle for the Parnaíba III plant. In practice, this means that the two plants will operate in a combined cycle. Parnaíba VI Will use steam generated from the heat produced in the energy production process from the Parnaíba III plant, thus not requiring additional natural gas to produce energy. This is an energy efficient project which will allow the production of more energy without increasing emissions.

Parnaíba VI will add a further 92 megawatts to our portfolio and will represent a safe and competitive energy for the national interconnected system (SIN)

The Parnaíba VI Project is located in the Parnaíba Complex (MA).

How does the combined cycle system work?

To explain simply, the combined cycle uses the heat created in the gas turbine which is then used to turn the water Into steam which is then used to push a turbine. In this way we generate more energy without using a single molecule of additional gas. It is a safe and efficient means of generating energy.
