Jaguatirica II is a part of the Azulão-Jaguatirica integrated complex. The plant has an installed capacity of 141 MW and generates enough energy to supply over half of the state of Roraima. This is a cleaner, safer, and more reliable kind of energy that offers considerable opportunities for income generation, employment and the development of local suppliers.
Jaguatirica II uses natural gas from the Azulão field, located in the state of Amazonas to produce energy for the isolated system in Boa Vista as well as other connected locations. This energy means that diesel fuel production can be discontinued, leading to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Understand the integrated complex better
The Gas Treatment Unit (GTU) in the Azulão field produces natural gas that is used to generate energy in the Jaguatirica II plant. After the production and treatment process, the gas passes through a liquefaction procedure to then be transported in cryogenic tanks over a distance of 1,100 km to Boa Vista. Once there, the gas passes through a re-gasification process to then be used in the generation of energy. This is an innovative and energy-efficient project that helps transform lives and create opportunities for Brazil’s North region.
